Thomas wrote this as the basis for a film screenplay so, as read, the reader is supposed to picture the action unfurling in front of them.  It was finally made into a film in 1992 with Peter O'Toole.  It concerns the 'Rebecca Riots' in Wales, when men dressed as women to carry out acts of sabotage and defiance against landowners and the tax-levying authorities. There is tanning and foxing to front edge; an owner's small inscription to front past down. The jacket has a little loss to top edge and spine top.
