Border Country/Second Generation/The Fight for Manod. Set of three novels making up the 'Border Trilogy'
Publisher: Chatto & Windus, 1960;1964;1969
Edition: 1st UK, 1st impressions, all
Williams was best known as a socialist intellectual and author of 'Culture and Society' (1958). He wrote extensive non-fiction on similar themes. His fiction work is defined by the acclaimed Border Country trilogy and its examination of family and community in a gradually changing society. With profound relevance to today's Wales, these novels are deservedly now held as outstanding modern classics. These books are rarely available as a set and in first impressions. The superbly drawn dust jackets are all present and make for an attractive and cohesive collection. All books are clean with only a couple of small inscriptions. There are no marks, deletions, or damage apart from some slight and expected foxing to some text block edges. Dust jackets are all intact with only usual losses to spine extremities. Border Country's is near fine if a little sunned to rear. Second Generation has an unfortunate stain to one of the title letters.
