I Am Mary Dunne
Publisher: Jonathan Cape, 1968
Edition: 1st UK, 1st impression
This appeared in the UK very shortly after the first American edition, and in a far more interesting and rare dust jacket. Here, the Irish-Canadian author of Judith Hearne portrays the differing personae and versions of herself that Mary Dunne describes, sometimes fearing insanity. Extremely introspective - the outside world appears only briefly in the shape of a single anti Vietnam war flyer in the street and the names of some restaurants - this was described as one of the first feminist novels, before feminist novels. And written by a man. The jacket is price clipped with a little toning to top edge.
