Often placed among the best 100 novels in English of the twentieth century this novel deals deftly with post-colonialism in Trinidad from an unusual Indo-Caribbean perspective.  It is Naipul's best and most cherished work.  The cover art here is superb. There is some indentation to top of spine.  Boards otherwise very good.  Textblock clean and tight, no marks or inscriptions.  Some slight foxing to endpapers and page edges. Some loss to jacket, especially spine top and bottom.
