In our opinion this book's design is far more attractive than the US version from Putnam.  Such was the interest in Tan's debut that the rights had been sold to Heinemann UK (as well as other foreign publishers) before the US edition even appeared.  So this can be considered a concurrent first edition and indeed there is no mention of the US publication on the publisher's page.  This book is an exquisite treasure, beautifully and famously structured in the form of a mah-jong game, and presents as almost unread. There is just some tanning to page edges, otherwise very clean and tidy, no marks or inscriptions.
