This story was originally published in 1884 as one of Randolph Caldecott's sixteen 'Picture Books' based on familiar English nursery rhymes. The author was one of the most important British illustrators of the Victorian period. This is a later (c.1917) edition published by Frederick Warne, but still using the renowned colour printer, Edmund Evans, with whom Caldecott developed a close relationship. Thus the colour illustrations are nicely reproduced here and have kept well. The book is in fine overall condition with no marks, inscriptions, or losses.
