Douglas Duff was a merchant seaman, soldier, colonial policeman, naval reservist and author. He attracted some controversy for his role as a Black and Tan and his then transfer to the notorious Palestinian Police Force.  He later became a minor television personality as a panellist on the popular British quiz show "What's My Line?"
