Space Below My Feet
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton, 1961
Edition: 1st UK, 1st impression
A scarce overall fine copy of this mountaineering autobiography, which starts with the author's 'desertion' from the ATS in World War 2 to live an itinerant life on the road. Gwen Moffat later became the first female professional mountain guide in the UK, as accredited by the British Mountaineering Council, and also wrote an acclaimed series of thriller novels, all set in a mountaineering context. This first volume of an autobiographical series is fine overall, with only one previous owner's neat inscription to the front end paper. There are no other marks, inscriptions or annotations. There is slight spotting to the top edge. The now protected dust jacket has some nibbling to the spine top and the rear white panel is a little grubby while the edges suffer from yellowing.
