Poems of Wrenne Jarman

Publisher: Hilary Press, 1970

Edition: 1st UK thus

Binding: Hardback

Wrenne Jarman once shared a publisher (The Fortune Press) with Philip Larkin, but did not become nearly so well known. She is noted as one of a few women Second World War poets, having worked in an aircraft factory, with Plastic Airman an example in this volume. For a little while she mixed in the bohemian literary salons of post war London and some of her poems reflect her interest in the occult and her association with people like Aleister Crowley. She died in 1953 aged only 47. This book is a retrospective selection of work from her two published collections. There are no marks or inscriptions, pages very clean. Pages loosening slightly at front. High quality paper retains freshness. The jacket has suffered some tears, closed well; front and rear toned; some losses to extremities, all now protected.
